MC_Audit v3.0
A read-only PowerShell audit of a master control PC. It changes nothing; it records everything:
- installed software
- services and scheduled tasks
- network configuration
- registry exports
- a hash manifest of what it collected
- all of it packaged into a single ZIP
The point is to know exactly what a machine looked like before you touch it.
The migration runbook
The Windows 10 to Windows 11 migration for engineering PCs runs in three stages:
- Audit with MC_Audit.
- Selective migration: move only what the audit shows is actually in use.
- Full recovery archive, informally the “oh-shit archive,” taken before cutover, so anything missed can still be recovered.
Why read-only first
Playout-adjacent PCs collect years of small, undocumented fixes. The audit turns those into a list. The archive covers whatever the list missed.
Publishing
A generic version of MC_Audit (no site paths or hostnames) is the version that will be shared.
