Dante audio network remediation
Taking a multi-facility Dante plant off link-local addressing and onto a dedicated subnet, managed domains, and a dedicated PTP leader.
I’m CJ, a media systems engineer in Brooklyn. I keep a live broadcast plant on air: the networks, the Dante audio, the playout. Drabsnarg is where I write down what I build, what breaks, and what I learn.

Planning a master control relocation and keeping the channel on air through cloud playout while the physical plant moved.
Designing and installing a new facility network for a cathedral broadcast site, then cutting it over in a single overnight window.
Employer names, addresses, and topology are left out of every write-up. Results appear only when documented.
My work sits between disciplines. Understanding the connections is often where the most useful engineering happens.
Playout, Dante audio over IP, routing and sync, and Engineer in Charge for live events.
Nexus and Catalyst broadcast cores, Meraki site builds, multicast, and WAN failover.
Python and PowerShell tools for audits, migrations, and the work I got tired of doing by hand.
Open-weight models, owner-operated hardware, inference experiments, and AI development tools.
Intune, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and knowing which machines should never get a policy push.
SOPs people actually use, vendor escalations with evidence, and one change at a time.

Four smaller broadcast problems, including the ones that ended in an escalation rather than a fix.
DVS subscriptions failed on an edit suite. The cause wasn't Dante at all. Windows had moved the NIC to a Public profile.
Jarvis v1.0.0 passed 900+ tests, then stopped in its own deployment rehearsal. The cause was a security check applied one place too many.
