Phase one: the lift (done)
The Engineering NAS folder moved into a new SharePoint site in full: same file structure, no exclusions. Nobody had to relearn where things were on day one.
Permissions were redesigned in SharePoint instead of copied over, since years of NAS permissions are rarely what you’d choose on purpose.
Phase two: Technical Resources (in progress)
Restructuring the site into a Technical Resources repository that merges manuals, firmware, and configuration files into one place, organized by system instead of by whoever saved it first.
Why lift first, reorganize second
Changing the location and the structure at the same time makes every missing file a mystery. Moving it as-is first means any later problem is about the reorganization, not the migration.
