A factory plan with cutover rules

A production plan for the factory game Satisfactory that ended up following the same rules I use for broadcast cutovers.

The plan

Satisfactory is a factory-building game. My plan for it is a spreadsheet that works like a production document:

  • Targets per minute for each product
  • Machine counts that calculate themselves
  • A hunt list of alternate recipes
  • Status for each plant: built, to build, or blocked
  • A reference sheet for belt and pipe capacity

The rules in the plan

  • Cutover: the old plant stays online. Cut the belts only after the new one hits its rate. Dismantle last.
  • One plant per session, 100% verified before starting the next.
  • A full container is information, not failure. It tells you where the bottleneck is.
  • Give a manifold 10 minutes before debugging. It needs time to fill.
  • Headlift problems look exactly like ratio problems.
  • Build the sink before the producer.

Why it’s on this site

Read that cutover rule again. It’s the same rule as moving master control without going off air: keep the old path running until the new one is proven. Games are where I practice the habits without anyone’s broadcast on the line.
